Advanced Desktop Publishing- Magazine Layout

A layout is the arrangement of type and graphics on a printed publication. A good layout should serve the purpose intended by the designer, organize the information and graphics in order to create a visual path for readers to follow, and attract the attention of readers. There’s no one right way to create a good layout. In this assignment, students utilized Adobe InDesign to do a ten page layout that was an interpretation of Rolling Stone magazine. Also students had to execute text wraps, style sheets, and text alignments. Sean Brett did an excellent job! Good Work!

Movie Poster Design

MOVIE POSTER DESIGN
Made in many different sizes and versions, and released in different moments all along a movie’s life, posters immortalize in one static image the feeling and the atmosphere of a motion picture. Some posters can be dark or try to frighten the audience, others bedazzling with bright colors; some can be someway informative, while others can be fully teasing and may provide you only the date when movie will be released, even if you may not know what the movie is about.

SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN tells the incredible true story of Rodriguez, the greatest ’70s rock icon who never was. Discovered in a Detroit bar in the late ’60s by two celebrated producers struck by his soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics, they recorded an album which they believed would secure his reputation as the greatest recording artist of his generation. In fact, the album bombed and the singer disappeared into obscurity amid rumors of a gruesome on-stage suicide. But a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and, over the next two decades, he became a phenomenon. The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation leads them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist known as Rodriguez.

Sean Brett, Dave Viano and Kristen Chrzanowski did an excellent job with their concepts to help promote this awesome documentary. All work was produced primarily with Adobe Illustrator, with the help of Photoshop. Excellent work everyone!!

Advanced Desktop Publishing – Plug

Something that tempts or attracts, especially one with a promise of reward or pleasure. This may also be known as a plug. This is basically something the magazine might give away to lure the reader into buying the magazine. a lure may also be something featured in the article to get the reader to buy something else, for example, the part on my page that talks about their album that’s just come out, it is luring the reader into buying it.

Asia Jackson and Marcus Christian did an excellent job of conveying a simplistic message within these Beverage layouts. Excellent use of imagery, tyography, balance and overall composition.

Billboard marketing can be seen almost everywhere you go these days and at any hour. This is because until a person no longer wants to advertise something on a billboard it remains on display full time to the thousands of prospective citizens passing by.
